Schedules & cost
How Many Hours of Home Care Do We Need?
Build a schedule around the times help is needed instead of guessing a weekly total.

There is no single number that fits every household. Start with the moments when help is missing, then work out how long the agreed tasks take. An agency assessment can help turn that list into a workable schedule.
Map the day
Write down the morning, afternoon, evening and overnight routine. Note which tasks need assistance and who is currently available. Include weekends and the time family members spend traveling.
Someone may manage most of the day but struggle with bathing and breakfast. Another household may need supervision while a relative is at work. Those situations need different schedules even when the care labels sound similar.
Account for the gaps
- What happens if a visit ends before a family member returns?
- Who helps on days without a caregiver?
- Is there a backup for appointments or illness?
- Are there clinical tasks that need a separate provider?
Do not build a plan that depends on a caregiver rushing through tasks or staying beyond the scheduled visit. Discuss realistic timing and the agency’s current minimum visit requirements.
Review after care starts
Use the first visits to check whether the schedule matches the day. Tell the coordinator if tasks are regularly unfinished, the person is uncomfortable or the family is still covering a large gap.
Care Connect at Home offers flexible schedules. Ask for a quote for the actual days and tasks needed, then discuss changes if circumstances evolve. More hours are not automatically the answer; the right timing matters too.

Common questions
Can we start with fewer hours?
Discuss the smallest schedule that can safely and realistically cover the agreed tasks. Current availability and visit requirements need to be confirmed with the agency.
