Planning a Budget for Private Home Care
The billing questions to ask before committing, without made-up rates or coverage promises.
3 min read · Updated October 2026
A useful budget starts with a written quote for your schedule. A national average cannot tell you what a particular agency will charge for the tasks, timing and staffing your family needs. Care Connect at Home does not publish a one-size-fits-all rate card.
Build the weekly estimate
Ask for the rate and the planned hours for each visit. Multiply the daily visit costs by the days you expect to schedule. Confirm how the agency calculates a monthly estimate, since calendar months do not all contain the same number of days.
Ask which charges are included and which are separate. Transport, holidays, overnight arrangements and schedule changes should be clarified rather than assumed. These are questions to ask, not a statement that this agency charges each fee.
Get the terms in writing
- Minimum visit length and any weekly minimum.
- Cancellation or schedule-change requirements.
- Billing frequency and accepted payment methods.
- Whether a change in tasks changes the rate.
- What happens to billing if a scheduled visit cannot be covered.
Compare quotes for the same tasks and hours. A lower hourly number may describe a different visit length or rest arrangement.
Benefits and insurance
Care Connect at Home does not currently accept or coordinate Medicare, Medicaid or VA benefits. Contact us for a quote for privately arranged non-medical care.
If you have long-term care insurance, ask your insurer about eligibility, waiting periods, documentation and provider requirements. Do not assume a policy will reimburse a particular schedule or agency. Confirm any required paperwork before relying on reimbursement.
Our free in-home consultation is a chance to discuss the day and request an exact quote. There is no obligation to start care.
Written by Care Connect at Home. General information about non-medical support, not medical advice. Confirm clinical needs with a qualified professional.
